Habitat in the Wild
This plant has been collected near Berastagi in North Sumatra. The photos taken by Peter O'Byrne were taken at Utara in the Barisan Range.
The Plants Description
The rhizome is long and has internodes of 2.5cm and pseudobulbs spaced 5cm apart. The pseudobulbs are shaped cylindrical and are swollen basally. The pseudobulbs measure 2.5cm long and 5mm in diameter. The leaves are petiolate; the petiole measures 1.5cm long. The leaf blades are shaped oblong-lanceolate and have acuminate apices. The leaf blades measure 15cm long and 2.8cm wide.
The Inflorescence
Overall the inflorescence measures up to 25cm long including a peduncle of 10cm.
The Flowers
The flowers measure 3.8mm across and are greenish-white. The sepals and petals are shaped lanceolate and have acuminate or acute apices. The labellum is 3-lobed; the side lobes are erect and grow from the base of the labellum. The mid-lobe is long and tongue shaped with an acuminate apex. There are 2 calli located at the base between the side lobes. The column is short and has a large truncate apical hood. The stelidia grow from half way up the column and exceed the apical hood.
